Times that you just point and shoot

As wildlife photographers we're often grappling with light trying to make the most of our sightings that involve, elusive, rare subjects. Sometimes we grapple with light when we get common subjects and want to portray them differently. There are times however, when the light is so divine - that all you need is to point and shoot. The light does everything else for you.

On one of my visits in Central India, we saw this Indian Roller right by the side of the safari track - backlit with a beautiful background. We know rollers to be extremely cooperative subject; absolute sitters until you do something silly to spook them. This guy was true to reputation as well and gave us several minutes to make many different frames of him. This vertical frame is just one of the many images I have from that evening.
