Colonial legacy

In the town of Luderitz, it almost feels like you’ve travelled through time, into a bygone era. The architecture, with its colonial legacy is a visual delight. This photo essay includes my perspectives of the town through a tilt-shift lens.

En-route to Luderitz - a goods train chugs along the barren landscape

As soon as you head out for a walkabout in town, the old-world charm of the place is evident. From the docs to the train station; from the town square to the pharmacy - it’s almost as if time’s held still for a century or so.

As the sun starts to go down, lucky days end in great light. For people like me, who’re suckers for colour, the hues of the sky, coupled with a sprinkling of Art Nouveau architecture make for some great sights.

When you’re done walking around town, perch yourself atop the hill and look over the coast for the magnificent sunsets this town is known for. Your favourite drink in hand, colours of the sky changing, it’s one of the most tranquil urban sights you can imagine.
